What Do You Need Help With?

Choose the area that fits your situation. Not sure? Start with the problem — Holistic Law can help you work out the next step.

Independent Thinking.
Fairer Legal Services.

Challenging Barriers.
Putting People First.

Holistic Law wants to change how people experience the law. Sexism, racism, unnecessary delays, confusing bureaucracy and excessive costs can stand in the way of fair treatment. They deserve to be questioned and challenged.

The approach is practical: listen carefully, look at the evidence, ask clear questions and press for proper explanations. Where there are grounds, help clients raise concerns, prepare complaints and take the right next step. The aim is to protect their interests and reach a fair, workable outcome.

Fair Treatment

Everyone deserves to be heard and treated with dignity. Concerns about sexism, racism or other unfair treatment are taken seriously.

Clear Processes

Plain English, organised information and focused follow-up help clients deal with delays and unnecessary red tape.

Sensible Costs

Question unnecessary work, ask for charges to be explained and keep the legal budget focused on what matters.

A negotiated agreement remains the preferred route where suitable. Court action has a role when protection or enforcement is needed. Challenging the system means choosing effective action with the client’s interests in view.

The Holistic Law Approach

A clear way of working

Resolve Where Possible.
Protect Where Necessary.

01

See the Whole Picture

Understand what has happened, what matters most and what needs protecting. Take account of the people, finances and practical pressures involved.

02

Look for a Practical Settlement

Look for a workable agreement through clear letters, discussions and negotiation. The aim is to help clients move on without a drawn-out dispute.

03

Use the Right Route to Protect You

Choose the right next step, whether that means a complaint, a negotiation or court action. Negotiations must not delay urgent protection or cause a deadline to be missed.

Commercial Expertise.
A Practical Approach.

Contracts, licensing and intellectual property are core areas of expertise, with practical advice focused on the needs of the business.

For commercial clients

IP, Licensing & Commercial Drafting

Protect creative work, agree clear licensing terms and deal with infringement concerns. Holistic Law also drafts and reviews commercial contracts and helps clients prepare for negotiations.

Challenge Excessive Solicitors’ Fees

Concerned about a solicitor’s bill? Holistic Law reviews the charges, asks for explanations and checks them against the agreement and relevant SRA requirements. No win, no fee terms are available for eligible fee disputes, following assessment and a written agreement. Negligence concerns may need a separate specialist review.

A Strategy for the Issue in Front of You

Make sense of property documents, organise the facts and prepare clear letters about a dispute. Conveyancing and other reserved legal work must be handled by an appropriately authorised professional.

Keep Your Legal Team Working Towards Your Goals

Agree what needs doing, prepare clear instructions and keep solicitors and barristers focused on the client’s goals. Question duplicated work and keep costs in view.

Careful drafting. Commercial sense.

Clear Documents.
Sensible Costs.

Carefully drafted letters and agreements, with solicitor time focused where it is needed. This approach can reduce the overall cost, depending on the work and any specialist review.

01 / GET THE SUBSTANCE RIGHT

Words That Do the Job.

A clear letter or agreement should do a clear job. Holistic Law drafts with the client’s aim, the important details and the next step in mind.

02 / USE EXPERTISE EFFICIENTLY

Prepare the Work Before Specialist Review.

Holistic Law prepares the agreed documents so a solicitor can focus on the points that need specialist review, rather than starting from scratch.

03 / REVIEW WHEN NEEDED

Arrange Solicitor Review & Sign-Off.

Independent solicitor review can be arranged where needed. The solicitor decides whether changes are required and agrees their own scope and fee before reviewing the work.

The right work, done by the right person, at the right stage.

The work and price are agreed first, including any separate specialist review. Savings depend on the task. Solicitor approval is not automatic and cannot guarantee an outcome. Reserved work stays with authorised professionals.

Excessive Legal Fees?
Ask for the Justification.

No win, no fee options for eligible cases.
A focused review of what was agreed, what was done and what you were charged.

01 / SCRUTINISE THE BILL

Check the Charges Against the Agreement.

Compare the bill with the original agreement, estimates and instructions. Look for duplicated work, unclear entries and charges that need explaining.

02 / REQUIRE AN EXPLANATION

Make the Solicitor Justify the Fees.

Ask clear questions about the time spent, hourly rates and increases in cost. Set out why a charge appears excessive or has not been explained.

03 / CHECK THE STANDARDS

Test the Information You Were Given.

Check the information given about prices, cost updates and complaints against relevant SRA requirements. Prepare a complaint or consider the right next step.

No win, no fee — with clear terms before work begins.

Eligibility is assessed first. Written terms explain what counts as a win, the fee on success, any VAT, the work covered and cancellation terms. They also explain any third-party charges, court fees or possible liability for the other side’s costs. The offer covers agreed fee-dispute work, not every service.

A refund or bill reduction is not guaranteed. Holistic Law can raise concerns about SRA requirements, but regulatory decisions are for the SRA. A court fee assessment or other reserved work may need an authorised professional.

Electronic contract management

Less Paperwork.
Simpler Contract Signing.

Practical support with electronic contracts and signing, alongside commercial drafting and strategy.

From Draft to Electronic Signature

Holistic Law can organise electronic contracts and signing where suitable, reducing paperwork and the need to print, scan or post documents.

Convenience, with the Formalities in View

Under the law of England and Wales, electronic signatures can be legally valid where the signer intends to authenticate the document and all applicable signing formalities are met. Electronic signatures are also admissible as evidence in legal proceedings.

Suitability depends on the document, any witnessing requirements and relevant registry or contractual rules. Admissibility does not mean a court has pre-approved a particular contract, platform or service.

About Us

Holistic Law.
A Complete Perspective.

Holistic Law is a legal consultancy, led by Umesh Mistry. The service brings together legal strategy, drafting and McKenzie Friend assistance for commercial and private clients. Umesh’s expertise includes intellectual property, licensing and commercial contracts, alongside experience in family, property and everyday disputes.

Umesh takes time to understand the situation, asks straightforward questions and helps clients make a plan. That can mean a carefully written letter, a negotiated agreement, coaching through a difficult decision or keeping a legal team on track.

Umesh wants Holistic Law to be a force for change: challenging discrimination, unnecessary bureaucracy, avoidable delays and excessive legal costs. The consultancy combines that purpose with careful preparation, clear communication and practical action for each client.

The aim is a practical resolution wherever possible. Court action still has a place when protection or enforcement is needed. The right approach depends on the facts, the people involved and what the client needs to achieve.

Good questions. Clear answers.

Before Taking
the Next Step.

Can I Come to You If I Am Unsure What Kind of Help I Need?

Yes. Start with what has happened and what you want to achieve — whether it concerns a consumer complaint, motoring matter, family issue, property matter or business decision. Holistic Law will help identify the issues, what support it can provide and whether specialist or authorised assistance is needed.

Do You Always Recommend Going to Court?

No. Holistic Law’s preference is a negotiated, practical resolution where that is suitable and protects your interests. Court action may be necessary for urgent protection or enforcement, or when other options are unsuitable. Negotiation should not mean missing a deadline or delaying essential protective steps.

Can You Help Challenge Unfair Treatment or Delays?

Holistic Law takes concerns about discrimination, poor treatment, delays and unexplained costs seriously. Help can include organising the facts, asking for explanations, preparing clear correspondence and identifying the appropriate complaint route or specialist. The right response depends on the evidence and any deadlines.

Can You Help Me Deal with Agencies and Organisations?

Yes. Support can include identifying the appropriate organisation or complaints process, organising evidence, preparing correspondence and helping you understand responses. The right route depends on the issue and any applicable deadlines.

What Does “Holistic” Mean Here?

It means considering the whole situation around your legal issue: family relationships, practical needs, finances, wellbeing and longer-term priorities. Coaching and supportive conversations help you think through decisions; they are distinct from clinical counselling or therapy.

What Can a McKenzie Friend Do?

A McKenzie Friend can usually offer moral support, take notes, help with papers and make quiet suggestions during a hearing, subject to the court’s control. The role does not automatically include addressing the court or conducting litigation. You remain responsible for your case unless an authorised legal professional is instructed. Read the Judiciary’s guidance ↗

Can You Work Alongside My Solicitor or Barrister?

Yes. Support can include clarifying your objectives, organising documents and coordinating communications and work with your authority. Solicitors and barristers remain responsible for their own professional advice and any reserved legal work they are instructed to undertake.

Can You Draft the Document and Arrange Solicitor Sign-Off?

Yes. Holistic Law can undertake the agreed drafting and, where needed, arrange an independent solicitor to review it. This approach aims to keep solicitor time focused and reduce the overall cost. The solicitor decides whether the document can be approved, whether amendments are required and what their own review will cost. Any reserved legal work requires appropriate authorisation.

Can You Manage Contracts and Signing Electronically?

Yes. Holistic Law offers electronic contract management and can coordinate electronic signing where appropriate. Electronic signatures can be legally valid and used as evidence in England and Wales, provided the relevant requirements are met. The document and its formalities are considered before choosing the signing process.

Can I Get Help with Just One Task?

Support can focus on a particular letter, court form, document review or planning discussion. The scope, fees and responsibilities should be agreed before work begins. Court documents remain yours to approve and file unless an authorised professional is handling this.

How Can You Save Me Money If I Already Use a Solicitor?

Clear instructions, organised papers and active oversight help reduce avoidable work. Holistic Law can help question duplication, keep the legal team focused and scrutinise estimates and bills. The consultancy’s fees also need to be considered: the aim is a more effective overall use of your budget, rather than simply adding another layer of cost.

Do You Offer No Win, No Fee for Excessive Solicitors’ Bills?

Yes, for eligible solicitor-fee disputes following assessment and a written agreement. Holistic Law reviews the bill and supporting terms, asks the solicitor to justify charges and checks for potential failures to meet applicable SRA requirements. The agreement must explain what counts as success, the fee payable on success, cancellation terms and any separate costs. It does not automatically cover court proceedings, other legal work or negligence claims. Read about the fee-review service.

Will You Guarantee a Result or a Saving?

No result or saving can be guaranteed. The purpose is to help you understand your options, prepare well and use resources carefully. Possible fee recovery or negligence concerns need individual assessment, including any relevant deadlines.
